Adapted from Kahlil Joseph’s renowned video art installation, BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions is a distinctive cinematic experience that mirrors the sonic textures of a record album, weaving fiction and history in an immersive journey where the fictionalized figures of W. E. B Du Bois and Marcus Garvey join artists, musicians, Joseph’s family, and even Twitter chats, in a vision for black consciousness.

Screening Begins: 2:30 PM
The program includes a full screening (runtime: 1 hour 50 minutes), followed by a live conversation featuring artist Chase McCurdy and Professor Devon Clifton, and an audience Q&A.
Guests will experience a special live operatic performance from Vegas City Opera inspired by the music of Black 19th-century composers prior to the screening at 2:00 PM.
The Obodo Collective, Inc. is a community-based 501(c)3 offering strategic solutions for community problems, funding opportunities for service providers and grassroots leaders, and support for marginalized communities.

Women Leading Government and Community Change

Some of Southern Nevada’s most respected women leaders will come together at THIRD Street on April 29 for Women Leading Government and Community Change, an evening exploring the real communication dynamics behind women‘s leadership and influence.
Hosted by Step into Your Moxie, with ticket sales benefitting THIRD Street, the event will feature a candid panel conversation with Angela Castro, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada; Beth Martino, President and CEO of Three Square Food Bank; Kathi Thomas, Chief Housing Officer of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority; and Dr. Christina Vela, CEO of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.
The discussion will be moderated by Step into Your Moxie CEO, Alexia Vernon, a leadership and communication expert known for helping executives and rising leaders strengthen their voice, executive presence, and influence. Together, these leaders will explore how women navigate high-stakes conversations, raise ideas and concerns so they land with impact, and build the relationships and visibility needed to drive meaningful change across government and community organizations.
Light appetizers will be served, and each ticket includes a copy of Alexia’s award-winning book, Step into Your Moxie: Amplify Your Voice, Visibility, and Influence in the World.
