THIRD Street CEO Daz Weller and COO Ginger Land-van Buuren joined Mike Prevatt on KNPR’s State of Nevada to talk about the Las Vegas cultural infrastructure gap — and the 41,500-square-foot campus designed to close it.
We’re a city of two-and-a-half million people, and we’re kind of unique in the nation in that we do not have the cultural infrastructure that other cities of our size have.

What is planned
The $7 million project occupies the former Downtown Cinemas complex and will house three performance venues with capacities of roughly 250, 150, and 600. Four resident companies — Vegas Theatre Company, Vegas City Opera, Las Vegas Sinfonietta, and Laugh After Dark — anchor the campus, with subsidized rental space held open for other local arts organizations.
On the media side, the plan includes screening rooms, post-production facilities, and what would be the city’s first dub stage for sound mixing, plus studios for rehearsal, content creation, and broadcast. Space rental information is available now.
Training the next workforce
The segment gave real time to education, which is where cultural infrastructure stops being about buildings. THIRD Street is developing partnerships with the College of Southern Nevada, dual enrollment pathways, and paid apprenticeships.

Land-van Buuren noted that career and technical education credits could be earned on site — a direct line from a Clark County classroom to a working stage or soundstage.
